Ballon d'Or - 2009,2010,2011
Last year Lionel Messi became only the third player to win 3 Ballon d'Or trophies, joining Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten. The new FIFA Ballon d'Or award has merged the old FIFA World Player of the year award with France Football's Ballon d'Or. If Messi wins the award in 2012, he will have won it more than any other player in history.

European Golden Shoe - 2010
In the 2009/10 season Lionel Messi won the European Golden Shoe for scoring 34 league goals. The award is given to the player who scores the most goals in European league football that season. Messi's nearest rivals were Didier Drogba and Antonio Di Natale, who both scored 29 league goals. Luis Suarez did score 35 league goals in 09/10, but his tally was multiplied down because of the Eredivisie's low UEFA Coefficient.

Pichichi Trophy - 2010
Trofeo Alfredo Di Stefano - 2009,2010,2011
UEFA Champions League top goalscorer - 2009,2010,2011

Champions League (3) - 2005/06, 2008/09, 2010,11
Messi has 3 Champions League winners medals, and has scored in 2 Finals. In 2006, Messi didn't feature in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Arsenal, as he had only just recovered from a thigh muscle injury, and wasn't risked by Frank Rijkaard.

In the 2009 Final, Barcelona played Manchester United at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Messi played the full 90 minutes and scored the winning goal with a fantastic header on 70 minutes. Barcelona won 2-0 and in Pep Guardiola's first season in charge became the first Spanish club to win the treble (Cup, League and Champions League).

The 2011 Champions League Final was again between Barcelona and Manchester United, and this time the game took place at Wembley. Messi scored after 54 minutes with a left foot shot from outside the area and Barcelona went on to win the game 3-1. It was Barcelona's fourth European Cup success.

La Liga (5) - 2004/05, 2005/06, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11
FIFA Club World Cup (2) - 2009, 2011
UEFA Super Cup (2) - 2009, 2011
Copa del Rey (1) - 2008/09
Spanish Supercup (5) - 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011

Argentina Honours

FIFA U-20 World Cup - 2005
Olympic Gold Medal - 2008

Messi has played in 2 World Cups, and both times Argentina were eliminated in the Quarter-Finals by Germany. Many people believe that Argentina have under-achieved for many years, they have one of the strongest squads in International football and arguably the most potent striking options of any country. Along with Messi, Argentina have Aguero, Tevez, Higuain, Lavezzi and Milito, and their failure on the World stage in recent years is disappointing to their expectant fans.
